Hi Friends,

Saurabh, Shayok, and I are running the Asha 5K again this year, which is this Saturday, 9th April, 2016. We are raising funds for a (no-administrative fee) donation toward Asha's efforts to spread education. The funds will wholly go to support Asha Purdue's projects on basic education in India. Asha Purdue currently supports the following projects:
 

• SAI Basundhara, 

• Diksha

• Manasa

• EduPortal

Here is our race-day wake-up-call:

"Asha" means hope! The hope to rekindle the dream of prosperity in the kids who do not get a chance to go to school; who do not get a chance to grow up with prosperous peer and, in a healthy way, do not compete in math tests, running races, swimming contests, reading tests, and the like; who, in spite of it all, smile when given a cent for cleaning the dirty table that they shouldn't have had to; who will be just as bright and buoyant with creative ideas if given a chance to get educated. Yes! Education is that magic 4-syllabic word that can forever change the lives of these seemingly carefree, street-scraping kids, in a land cradling some of the richest ... scraping the dirt left behind by the powerful ... when they too could savor petite bounties of the sunnier patches of the universe. Yes! thinking of all the little and big worries of these precocious kids, all over the world, who should not have to worry about things-we-take-for-granted, we will run a little faster, breathe a little shallower, and smile a little wider! 

I hope you will help these little unfurling fronds-of-fern display their foliage to the world by showering them with a tad bit of your unwavering support!  If you are interested, we can provide more information on how exactly the funds are used after the race day's tallies.
